Today it is possible to be married in a whole range of licensed venues, ranging from the local football ground through to a high-class hotel. This is outside of the traditional venues of a church, a mosque, a synagogue or a registry office. The venue may well be dictated by your religion, but if not, the choice may be to hold it at a hotel of your choice so that you can also hold the reception there.
Hotels
If you choose to be married in a hotel it goes without saying that you will need to establish if it has good grounds outside where you can be photographed against various backgrounds. If the hotel is set in the countryside are there vantage points where the surrounding hills can be in the picture?
Can the hotel offer the facilities for both a formal meal and then an evening party? Today the formal party is often held in a marquee if the time of the year is right. Does the hotel have the grounds for this and do they have the ability to cater for this? What of the evening reception? Will you be able to have the band of your choice, or the disco of your choice, and if so, will there be limitations on volume and duration?
Does the hotel have adequate accommodation for the happy couple and any guests whom will need to stay overnight?
This is a day you will wish to remember forever so everything must be perfect.
Restaurant
Many restaurants will be pleased to host your reception and they will offer high quality cuisine. Almost certainly they will be able to offer a dance floor so you can dance to the music of your choice. Restaurants can be a good choice for the more intimate of weddings as they will be able not only to give a more intimate feel, but will be able to provide a very special menu which a hotel may not be so well equipped for. Many restaurants have splendid settings for your wedding and will make you feel especially valued.
