Although the Gambia is the smallest country in West Africa it does have a strip of coastline that is absolutely pristine. This is where many of the main tourist resorts can be found. The two most popular resorts are Kololi and Kotu and both of these have seen an increased influx of tourism over recent years especially with British tourists looking for a cheap holiday destination.

Bars, restaurants and cafes are numerous and the crafts markets are a great place to spend an afternoon. Activities
Holidays in Gambia don’t have to be centred around the beach. If you want to immerse yourself in the nature of the country there is no better way to do this than by taking a bird watching tour. Kotu is home to a variety of different birds including the heron and the kingfisher – both of which are tame enough for visitors to get close to and make for some excellent photographs. If that isn’t your kind of thing you could also head to one of the golf courses in the country or even head to the traditional Gambian capital of Banjul. This is still relatively unaffected by tourism and has a number of interesting attractions open to visitors.
