Don’t be afraid to ask if you are unsure of something. Implement any advice you are given.

Practice in your spare time. The sooner you learn the sooner you will be offered a permanent job.

Keep up to date with you training materials and read ahead.

Be diligent and never arrive late.

If you do make a mistake admit it and put it right.

Tradeskills4U List of Don’ts for Apprentices

Don’t keep receiving calls or texting friends whilst at work.

Don’t stand around with your hands in your pockets.

Don’t rush out of the door bang on five o’clock. Show a willingness to work later when needed.

Don’t leave tools lying around to get damaged or lost

Don’t carry on with a job unless you are 100% sure you know what you are doing. Electric is dangerous and mistakes can kill.

This list of don’ts contains the main things that stop potential employers from offering an apprentice a permanent job.

Tradeskills4U works with electricians on a daily basis. They know the industry well and what electrical firms are really looking for in an employee. An apprentice that applies their list of dos stands a much better chance of being offered a permanent position.
